The Newman is the kind of jacket that you can only get right if it's tailored properly. I love that it has the silhouette and the restraint of a classical Italian sports coat. Hard to do at the best of times. It has the structure...

The Details

Considered, point by point.

  1. Three-Roll-Two Notch Lapel

    Three-Roll-Two Notch Lapel

A Neapolitan three-roll-two construction: the lapel is cut for three buttons but pressed to roll softly over the top one, breaking just above the second. The result is a longer, lower lapel line with a quiet diagonal sweep across the chest — more relaxed than a classic two-button, more considered than a casual blazer. Hand-rolled along the edge so the fold stays supple instead of flattening with wear.
  2. Handpicked Stitches

    Handpicked Stitches

Threads are chosen for their intrinsic strength and refined texture. Applied with calibrated precision, each seam provides the jacket with resilient structure and a clean, tactile finish that endures.
  3. Mother Of Pearl Buttons with Fleur De Lys Stitch & Shank

Mother Of Pearl Buttons with Fleur De Lys Stitch & Shank

Genuine mother of pearl buttons impart a cool, smooth touch and subtle iridescence to the garment. Each is secured with a distinctive fleur de lys stitch and a shank for effortless fastening and a precise hang.
  4. Spella Camicia Shoulders

    Spella Camicia Shoulders

The shoulders are crafted with a soft, unpadded construction. The sleeve head follows your natural contour, enabling fluid and comfortable movement. This refined technique yields a distinctively relaxed drape.
  5. Bemberg Silk Lining

    Bemberg Silk Lining

Experience the smooth, cool touch of Bemberg cupro against the skin. This breathable, anti-static lining ensures effortless layering and provides refined comfort. The natural fibers allow the garment to move seamlessly with you.

This garment is made with

Linen

Strongest Natural Fiber

Linen is spun from the fibres of the flax plant, one of the oldest cultivated textiles on earth, worked across Europe for more than six thousand years. We weave ours from long-staple 60 Lea yarn, prized for its strength, its natural temperature regulation and the quiet, lived-in texture it earns with every wash.

Construction

Built into every detail.

  • This Newman jacket is constructed with precisely cut panels joined by fine-gauge stitching, ensuring a clean and durable finish. All internal seams are meticulously overlocked and pressed flat for a smooth drape. Reinforced stress points enhance the garment's longevity and structural integrity.

Provenance

The unstructured Italian linen jacket traces its roots to the warmer coastal regions of Italy, particularly Naples, where tailors began stripping away the heavy canvassing, padding, and rigid construction found in British tailoring. In a climate defined by heat, humidity, and movement, Neapolitan craftsmen developed jackets that felt almost shirt-like — softer shoulders, lighter linings, minimal structure, and breathable linen cloths that draped naturally on the body. What emerged was not carelessness, but a different philosophy of elegance: one rooted in ease, sprezzatura, and the idea that refinement should never appear forced. Over time, the unstructured linen jacket became synonymous with Italian summer dressing — worn by artists, industrialists, and travelers alike — prized less for formality and more for the quiet confidence of a garment that moved, wrinkled, and aged with its wearer.
